2018 Muscle Car Showdown comes to Oz, Mustang vs. Camaro
Mustang has been a huge success for Ford Australia over the last few years, now with an updated 2018 model set to launch. HSV are bringing the 2018 Camaro 2SS over from the US. It’s a great time for modern muscle car enthusiasts in Australia. There’s something for both Ford and HSV lovers, with the two set to go head-to-head when they both hit the market mid-2018. With it comes demand for aftermarket upgrade options to get the maximum performance from these two street machines.
The 2018 Ford Mustang GT sees quite a few changes from its predecessor, and a sleek facelift. Coming in at a $60-$70k price tag. Sporting an updated Coyote 5.0L V8 boasting power figures of 331kw/570nm and a 0-60 time of 4 seconds. It’ll be a powerful, and well performing piece of machinery straight from the showroom.
Its competitor, the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS. Imported from the US by HSV and a limited number converted from LHD-RHD to factory standards. With a higher price tag of $80-$90K it won’t compete in sales volume. The 2SS is equipped with a 6.2 litre V8 and slightly higher power output than the Stang at 339kw/614nm, 0-60 3.9 seconds. In a lighter chassis, with more power than the Mustang, it is a strong competitor.
