Mustang has been a huge success for Ford Australia over the last few years, now with an updated 2018 model set to launch. HSV are bringing the 2018 Camaro 2SS over from the US. It’s a great time for modern muscle car enthusiasts in Australia. There’s something for both Ford and HSV lovers, with the two set to go head-to-head when they both hit the market mid-2018. With it comes demand for aftermarket upgrade options to get the maximum performance from these two street machines.
The 2018 Ford Mustang GT sees quite a few changes from its predecessor, and a sleek facelift. Coming in at a $60-$70k price tag. Sporting an updated Coyote 5.0L V8 boasting power figures of 331kw/570nm and a 0-60 time of 4 seconds. It’ll be a powerful, and well performing piece of machinery straight from the showroom.
Its competitor, the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS. Imported from the US by HSV and a limited number converted from LHD-RHD to factory standards. With a higher price tag of $80-$90K it won’t compete in sales volume. The 2SS is equipped with a 6.2 litre V8 and slightly higher power output than the Stang at 339kw/614nm, 0-60 3.9 seconds. In a lighter chassis, with more power than the Mustang, it is a strong competitor.
StreetFighter will have a range of upgrades to further improve these modern muscle cars. Premium Australian manufactured exhaust systems for a true V8 supercar note. German engineered H&R suspension and handling components. High flow fuel system upgrades. And specifically for the new gen Mustang, a 3.0L StreetFighter supercharger for the ultimate boost in power and performance.
StreetFighter have developed a series of performance packages to compliment the two vehicles. These packages can then be fine-tuned and tailored to make your modern muscle car into a truly unique StreetFighter. All packages consist of air intake, exhaust option (cat-back, full system), customised tuning, and premium vehicle badging. And for those chasing big horsepower there are supercharged packages available. StreetFighter even offer complete vehicle build packages, and Hennessey branded options to set your car apart from the rest.
There is talk of other modern muscle cars being available locally soon, such as the Dodge charger SRT Sedan, Challenger Coupe, and Corvette. We could see an all-out modern muscle car rumble between these heavyweights in the next few years.
